Student Executive
Isabelle Larocque — President
Hi!! I’m Isa and I have the incredible privilege of being your Newman House president this year! I’ve been a part of Newman since the 2nd year of my previous Biology degree. I am currently in my 2nd (and last) year of the Accelerated Nursing program at Queen’s, making this my 4th year at Newman! Thanks be to God!
I love sneakers, bubble tea, and going to the gym. If I’m listening to music, I’m probably blasting either country music or Silk Sonic. I’ve taken piano and voice lessons since I was 7, so music has always been a big part of my life.
Newman House has brought me so many blessings. It has taught me to be my authentic self, develop lifelong friendships, and most of all, it has shown me Jesus’ unconditional love for me (and for all His children) through the amazing leaders and community that we have. I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this year!
Jeremy Crowe — Vice President
Hi everyone, my name is Jeremy and I have the pleasure of serving as Vice President of Newman House this year! I am currently studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) and am in my fourth year at Queen's.
I got involved in Newman House in the fall of 2021 before becoming Catholic at Easter. Being involved in Newman has meant the world to me and I am so thankful for the community and opportunity to grow in my Faith over the past couple of years.
In my free time, I love to sing and play praise and worship music on guitar, go to the gym, and listen to interesting podcasts. I absolutely love making people laugh and smile in whatever way possible. More than anything else, however, I love Jesus and want to share His love with others!
Kristen Joanes — Outreach Coordinator
Hello! My name is Kristen, and I have the pleasure of being this years Newman House Outreach Coordinator! I am currently in my third year of Concurrent Education (Drama/English). I am very passionate about Catholic education and the integration of arts in publicly funded schools, so ask me about it for a really fun (and passionate) conversation!!!
Brampton is where my origin story begun, but now I’m living here! In beautiful Kingston! During the school year, you’ll often find me hanging out at the Newman Loft, at the 12:10pm Cathedral mass, working away at Studio Q, or finding the best deals around town!
Now for the real juicy details — my position. I remember my first time at Newman and how nervous I felt. I also remember the friendly faces I saw and the amazing conversations I had (and who can forget the iconic Thursday night dinners). The way I felt when I first walked through the doors — the way I feel now when I recall God’s love for us — that is what I want to give to each new and familiar face I see. I feel so incredibly privileged and blessed to be your Outreach Coordinator, and am constantly praying for each one of you. Yes, you! Reading this right now! You are so loved.
Never hesitate to get in contact with us here at Newman. God bless friends!
Nolan Croucher — Liturgical Coordinator
Hello everyone, my name is Nolan Croucher, and it is my privilege to be your liturgical coordinator for this year! I am currently in my 3rd year at Queens, studying Computer Science.
Being involved at Newman for the past 3 years has been an incredible blessing to me. This community is second to none, and has been an amazing help to me in growing in my faith, as well as meeting who I’m sure will be lifelong friends.
I like to spend my free time reading, working out, hanging out with friends, or watching/playing hockey.
I hope this year can be one of many blessing for this community! Ave Christus Rex!
Malcolm Smith — Secretary and Treasurer
Hello! My name is Malcolm Smith, and I’m a 2nd year Con-Ed student from Ottawa, with teachables in Geography and French, serving as this year's Secretary/Treasurer. In my free time, you’ll usually find me inside, reading books or watching anime, but I also adore nature, so (-almost-) as often, you can find me out and about - just enjoying the fresh Kingston air.
I decided to take on this role in order to better understand & appreciate the work put in by the previous exec(s), among spreading the joy and love of the faith. I first got involved with Newman about a year ago, and the warmth and praise I received was unmatched. Newman prides itself on being able to accept anyone despite their differences, and I really feel, (particularly thanks to CCO and my own spiritual growth) that this speaks to what’s at the heart of Catholicism.
In times of prayer, fasting, feasting, and almsgiving, it has been a wonderful and incredible home for me. I hope to have an amazing impact on both the community & christian fellowship throughout my tenure, and endeavor to make your stay as pleasurable as mine! (if a little less intimidating…;)
Can’t wait to meet y’all!!! (Keeping you in my prayers :)
